Your Money Mindset Profile: The Dreamer

The nine money mindset profiles, although described as a type of person, are really states of mind that create the characteristics of an archetype.  Consequently these states of mind can be changed and along with the change in mindset comes a change in behaviour and attitude towards money.  The mindset states are fluid and although some people may occupy a particular state for a long period of time, it is possible to progress through these states organically.  However, the majority of people who get stuck in a particular state fail to shift it without external intervention.

This is because it is impossible to break free of your limiting behaviour and beliefs unless you know exactly what are the limiting behaviour and beliefs you are trying to replace. Do you spend more money than you have? Do you feel that you don’t deserve money? Do you believe that you have to compromise your ethics to make money? Are you rarely contented with your financial situation? These are just a few of the questions that you will need to answer in order to begin to break free from your bad money habits and restore money harmony in your life.

The 9 money mindset profiles I have identified are based on my observations of how people I have worked with, lived with, mentored and coached interacted with money.  In addition I have also drawn on the work of Deborah L. Price (a highly regarded financial advisor and money coach in the USA) in her book Money Magic

The dreamer money mindset imageThe Dreamer: Dreamers are too busy focusing on the more artistic and creative aspects of life to be really bothered with money. They are attracted to money because they recognise its power to give them the goods and services they need to pursue their art. However, they are at the same time repelled by money because they are afraid that possessing it may make them too materialistic and less creative. Dreamers also believe in suffering for their craft and clearly having money would go against this.

Because of their deep spiritual connection, Dreamers often feel that having or pursuing money is anti-spiritual.  However Dreamers need to move away from their misconceptions about money and recognise that money itself is not evil; although the desire for having a lot of it or getting it by any means can be.  Dreamers need to learn to trust themselves and not abdicate responsibility for how money is used to others.  With their higher spiritual and ethical standards Dreamers have a lot to offer the world in terms of adding their thoughts and energies to a broader discussion on the redistribution of resources.  However, until they are prepared to get “down and dirty” too, they will remain outside the debate.  For those stuck in the Dreamer money mindset profile, the key is learning how to surrender.  The word surrender comes from the word “to render”, which means to give.  So, far from meaning to give in out of weakness, true surrender is a stance of strength when you give yourself up to a higher state of consciousness.  Dreamers must learn to trust their higher spiritual essence by surrendering to themselves rather than surrendering to their fears about money.  When you surrender yourself you give up something that is not working and allow the creative forces of the universe to work for you.  Once dreamers heal their spiritual relationship with money they are open to accept the flow of money in their lives and therefore able to  use their art to generate true wealth for themselves and others.

Typically dreamer money mindset profiles are: highly intellectual, idealistic, highly artistic and/or deeply spiritual, passive, introspective, non materialistic, have a sense of service to others

Your money mindset profile result is based on the questions you answered.  If you’re concerned that you do not fit the money mindset profile selected, it could be that you are a mixture of one or more profiles and the one identified has a slight dominance.  This is not an exact science.  The money mindset profiles are designed to help you heal issues in your relationship with money and it aims to provide you with useful information in this matter.  However, if you feel that these are not your issues, please look through the other profile types and work on the issues that you feel would best serve you.
