Modern Marketing Methods

ID-10057302The traditional marketing methods of print and media marketing are dead, or dying. They are simply not as effective as they once were, because we are suffering from advertising overload. People are trained to ignore traditional advertising, because they are constantly inundated with it.

This is not good if your business relies on advertising or marketing, because every dollar spend on traditional advertising is less effective than ever before. This means that the effectiveness of traditional marketing methods is so low that many businesses simply cannot make the numbers work so that their marketing efforts return positively on their investment. Money spent on something that most people ignore is often not a good investment.

A new way exists, that many canny marketers are using to their advantage to outperform and outpace their competitors that are still stuck struggling in the old ways. It seems that the current change to the way things were is good news after all. A change is necessary to give the marketers with their ears to the ground, the innovators and the entrepreneurs, a chance to rise to the top of the pile.

Many that have grown content in their old ways are watching their traditional marketing methods rendered more ineffective each day. It is the entrepreneurs, innovative and resourceful by nature, who are staying ahead of the curve by keeping up with the new, modern marketing methods.

These new effective marketing strategies engage the target audience, rather than speak to them without providing the opportunity to speak back. People want to be spoken with, not spoken to. People love to spend money, but they do not like to be sold to. The new marketers realise this, and they also realise that if they follow the new rules, they can effectively sell anything, without having to sell it. This is a much better balance, because nobody likes salespeople anyway.

By making the sales process conversational and interactive, the marketer can gain more insight to their market and react to their wants and desires more quickly than ever. This causes revenues to increase, while costs decrease, because it costs nothing to have a conversation. The target audience loves the new way because they can voice their opinions, feel heard and, ultimately, get what they really want in a more timely manner.

Modern marketing tools, if used correctly and responsibly, can be very powerful to build brand awareness, build trust with potential customers and offer superior follow up support to improve customer retention. Many of these tools are free and widely available. This means that cost is no longer a competitive advantage and that anyone with value to add can participate on a level playing field. Some of the better known social marketing tools are Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.

New modern marketing methods also include providing information and leading with value. This includes article, video and webinar marketing. Why spend time and money on traditional marketing that people are trained to ignore, when you can rather deliver the valuable information that they are looking for and position yourself as an expert, rather than a salesperson. You cannot get better marketing than that.
